What are the advantages to metal spinning?
With metal spinning, lead-times are usually shorter and tooling costs
are
significantly less than with other metal forming processes such as
stamping.
Lower volume production runs can be economically produced with metal
spinning.
Reverse angles and reveals can be possible with metal spinning.
The many design possibilities and cost advantages make metal spinning
an attractive
process to consider for your next project.

What shapes can be spun?
| Hemispheres |
Venturis |
| Flanged covers |
Cones |
| Dished heads |
Funnels |
| Stepped parts |
Parabolas |
These are just a few of the shapes that are possible with metal
spinning. In certain cases parts can have reveals or return angles.

What diameter blanks can you spin?
| Aluminum |
48" dia to .312 thick |
60" dia to .190 thick |
| Mild Steel |
48" dia to .250 thick |
60" dia to .090 thick |
| Copper/Brass |
48" dia to .250 thick |
60" dia to .125 thick |
| Stainless |
48" dia to .187 thick |
60" dia to .075 thick |
For certain special applications we can spin up to 84" diameter
blanks.

What job quantities are candidates for spinning?
Short,
medium and long running jobs are all candidates for spinning. Some
jobs actually combine spinning and press work to obtain the desired
part. Let us work with you when you are designing the part and
we can help recommend the appropriate processes.
|
What are metal spinning tolerances?
Typically +/- 1/32". Each job must be evaluated on its own merits
and special circumstances. Keep in mind that due to the nature
of the process, tolerances normally are ID.
|
What are lead-times for jobs involving
new tooling?
From 3 to 4 weeks is normal. Simple requirements can sometimes be
produced more quickly and complex requirements can take longer.
|
What are lead-times for jobs with existing
tooling?
Normal lead-times when existing tooling is on-hand at Spindustries
is usually 2 to 3 weeks.
